Employment Zone

I’m a member of staff – How can Employment Zone help me?

Employment Zone is a digital jobs board that connects our talented students with graduate recruiters, part-time jobs and work experience opportunities.

  • Your students and graduates can use the board to find work.
  • Your industry contacts can use it to advertise internships and vacancies.
  • You can use the board to find students to work for you as interns via our WOW and SPIN programmes.

If you’d like to use the board to advertise, please register your university department as an Organisation. You can do that right here: http://www.swansea.ac.uk/employmentzone/.

There are separate boards for volunteering and international opportunities. If you’d like to advertise on these boards, please email us at employmentzone@swansea.ac.uk.

How can I access funding to help employ a student as an intern?

Week of Work (WoW) is our flexible voluntary work experience programme.

  • Students can work for up to 35 hours unpaid in the University or an external organisation.
  • Limited travel and lunch expenses can be claimed back by the student from SEA.
  • Placements can be advertised via Employment Zone.
  • WoW is fully supported by SEA with work contracts and guidance for students and staff.

Swansea Paid Internship Network is our match-funded internship programme.

  • Students can work for up to 140 hours in the University or an external organisation.
  • Students are paid at least National Minimum Wage for a 21-year-old.
  • Organisations or University departments can claim a bursary of half this amount back (currently £493.50) from SEA.
  • Placements can be advertised via Employment Zone.
  • SPIN is fully supported by SEA with work contracts and guidance for students and staff.

Internships in SMEs, social enterprises and charities can also be funded through the Santander Universities Fund.
